Scenario:

You’re in a team meeting at Summit Mining & Exploration. The group is brainstorming ideas when you make a lighthearted joke about how “the new interns are probably too young to understand hard work.”

You intended it as a throwaway comment to get a laugh. But one of your colleagues, Jordan, speaks up:

“Hey, I know you didn’t mean it, but that comment about the interns sounded like a dig at younger staff. Comments like that can come across as dismissive and make people feel undervalued.”
